Choose a Source scope based on who should be able to use the material. A Source is not automatically shared everywhere just because you uploaded it.

Personal Sources

Use Personal Sources for material you want to keep available across your own Projects. Personal Sources are useful for:
  • Your own research notes
  • Reusable frameworks or reference documents
  • Background material you may use in more than one Project
Personal Sources are not workspace-shared by default. If teammates need the material, add a copy to the appropriate Project or Workspace Sources location instead.

Project Sources

Use Project Sources for material that belongs to one Project. Project Sources are useful for:
  • Project briefs and plans
  • Research collected for a specific Project
  • Interview or workshop material
  • Reports that should inform one Project’s work
People with access to the Project can view its Sources. Your Project role determines whether you can add, organize, or remove them. Project Sources are the right choice when the material should follow the Project rather than you personally.

Workspace Sources

Use Workspace Sources for material that should be available across your workspace. Workspace Sources are useful for:
  • Organization-wide policies
  • Shared templates and playbooks
  • Common program or market research
  • Reference material used by multiple Projects
Because Workspace Sources are shared with everyone in the workspace, avoid placing personal or Project-confidential material there.

A simple decision rule

Ask: Who should be able to use this material?
  1. Only me, across my Projects → Personal Sources
  2. The people working on one Project → Project Sources
  3. People across the workspace → Workspace Sources
If the right audience changes, move or re-add the material at the narrower or broader scope that matches the new need. For the controls available to people who can view or manage a Source, see Source visibility and permissions.
